The SF Browncoats, with the help of browncoats from all over the world, hosted the largest-ever Firefly/Serenity fan table at this year's San Diego ComicCon. We were the most popular fan tables at the event. Some of the events at the booth include:
Charity Fundraiser and Prize Drawing
We raised $12,374.79 in donations for Equality Now, Joss Whedon's favorite charity. We also gave out nearly four dozen shiny thank you prizes to our generous browncoat donors.
Guests and Visitors
We had several people stop by the booth to do scheduled signings, including Keith R.A. DeCandido, Glenn Yeffeth, and Jason Palmer. We also had surprise visits from Joss Whedon, Brett Matthews, John Cassaday, Shawna Trpcic, Jonathan Woodward, Margaret Weis, and a bunch of other folks. Our booth was really the place to be!
Serenity Screening
Universal used our booth to distribute tickets to a surprise screening of Serenity on Saturday night. This was the first screening of the final cut of the film. We were the first to see the finished product, and Joss joined us at the theatre.
Universal Schwag
The wonderful folks at Universal dropped off boxes and boxes of Serenity schwag for us to distribute to the fans, including pins, keychains, postcards, mini-posters, and several thousand Serenity soundtrack sampler CDs.
Merchandise and Give Aways
We sold Firefly DVDs, Serenity comics, Finding Serenity books, DVDs of our Big Damn Heroes at previous convention panels, Firefly patches, temporary tattoos, and other Whedonverse goodies.
